O Prince of Peace, we humbly ask Your protection for
all our men and women in military service. Give them unflinching courage
to defend with honor, dignity and devotion their rights of all who are
imperiled by injustice and evil. Guard our churches, our homes, our
buildings and all those within from harm and peril. Protect our land and
its peoples from enemies within and without. Grant an early peace with
victory founded upon justice. Instill in the hearts and minds of men and
women everywhere a firm purpose to live forever in peace and good will
toward all. AMEN

THE
YEAR OF SAINT PAUL JUNE 28, 2008 - JUNE 29, 2009
During the coming year, the Church throughout the world will
observe a special Jubilee year in honor of the Apostle Paul, whose
birth is traditionally placed between 7 and 10 A.D. The celebration
will be centered at the great Basilica of St. Paul outside the Wall
in Rome, where St. Paul's relics have been venerated for centuries.
The Basilica of St. Paul will welcome tens of thousands of pilgrims
during the coming year, and will host a series of liturgies,
ecumenical prayer services, concerts, lectures, and artistic and
historical displays. Pope Benedict urges that all dioceses undertake
similar initiatives to help the faithful come to know the great
Apostle better.
THE HOLY FATHER'S MONTHLY INTENTION FOR
MAY
General: That the laity and the Christian communities may be
responsible promoters of priestly and religious vocations.
Mission: That the recently founded Catholic Churches,
grateful to the Lord for the gift of faith, may be ready to share in
the universal mission of the Church, offering their availability to
preach the Gospel throughout the world.
