SAINT JEROME CHURCH
CEMETERY GUIDELINES
Effective September 1, 2007

Burial Rights:
Buyer purchases burial rights only.
All purchased grave sites are not transferable unless the transfer
is documented with the St. Jerome Cemetery Committee to prevent legal
complications.
Graves not used by original purchaser will be sold back to St. Jerome
Cemetery at the original purchase price.
At the time of grave purchase, corner markers are required to be
purchased at the current rate for four (4) markers. At the time of the grave
purchase corner stones will be installed by SJ Cemetery Committee for an
additional charge for stones and labor. Anyone who has previously purchased
a grave and does not have corner markers is encouraged to purchase them and
have them installed with assistance of SJ Cemetery Committee at a small
charge.

All graves and crypts must be paid for in full before a grave
marker is placed.
Non-Parishioners must pay for grave(s) in full at time of purchase.
Any changes of graves will incur an additional fee of $200.00 plus cost of new
grave.
All prices and regulations will be evaluated periodically and could be subject
to change.
Due to shortage of available graves generally the number of graves sold will
be limited to two (2) per family.

Monuments:
All monuments in St. Isadore Section shall be FLUSH with the
ground.
This was decided when that area was opened. There will be no exceptions.
Monuments in all other sections maybe either upright or flush.
Footer required for any head stone is 18 inches deep.
Height of monument must be no taller than 40 inches from ground.
Check with SJ Cemetery Committee before setting any stone or marker, or any
digging is done.

Vaults:
Vaults are required in the New Front Section and the Hedge
Section.
Vaults maybe used in other sections, but are not required.
Vaults shall be permanent type concrete or at least a minimum of 20 gauge
galvanized steel.

Decorations In All Sections other than St. Isadore:
Only one shepherd hook with one item per stone will be
allowed unless part of the stone. The shepherd hook should be no larger than
1 inch in diameter and no taller than 4 foot from the ground. Items hanging
from shepherd hook should hang over the headstone and not interfere with
grounds maintenance. Any decoration not in compliance with these regulations
after October 1, 2007 will be removed and placed behind the rectory garage
to be picked by owner within 60 days.
Not Allowed: Benches, glass jars, large angels and figurines,
luminary crosses, evergreen blankets and other items deemed inappropriate by
SJ Cemetery Committee
St. Isadore Section:
Any decorations or items on or around the flush graves will need to be
removed during the mowing season - April 1 thru October 31. Any items not
removed by the owner will be removed and placed behind the rectory garage to
be picked up by the owner within 60 days. This rule was made when that
section was opened due to mowing hazards and will again be enforced.

Decorations on Graves:
Decorations are placed on graves at owners risk. The SJ
Cemetery is not responsible for items that are lost. Any item faded or worn
should be removed by the owner, if not they maybe removed for you.

Cremains:
Must be in approved container and buried 24 inches deep.
Must be treated with dignity and respect.
When ashes are buried on top of existing grave with body - the charge will
be $250.00 for burial.
The grave must be marked with stone. Only 2 cremains per existing grave are
allowed.

Burials:
Prior to interment all burials must be reported to
the SJ Cemetery Committee for record-keeping purposes.

Cemetery Fund:
All fees collected by St. Jerome Cemetery will be placed in
the St. Jerome Cemetery Fund to be used for the continuing maintenance of
the cemetery.
These rules have been put into effect for your benefit so that
our cemetery will remain a beautiful resting place for our departed loved ones.
Your understanding and cooperation in helping carry out these rules will be
appreciated. The Cemetery Committee would like to thank John Hayden from St.
Louis who in recent months has done extensive work on our cemetery records and
is continuing this project. The records show 4700 interments in our cemetery
with around 700 unidentified.
